Dr Caitriona Ryan is a Consultant Dermatologist in St Vincent’s Hospital and Aesthetic Surgery Ireland. Prior to returning to practice in Ireland she was Clinical Associate Professor of Dermatology at Texas A&M and Vice Chair of Dermatology at Baylor University Medical Center, Dallas. She initially trained as a Dermatology Specialist Registrar in Ireland and completed her dermatology training at the Baylor Dermatology Residency program, before joining the faculty as Assistant Program Director.
Dr Ryan has written a textbook on psoriasis, is the primary author of five book chapters and a chapter on the genetics of psoriasis in Brenner’s Encyclopedia of Genetics, and has published 50 articles in peer-reviewed medical journals, including articles in JAMA and The Lancet. She has presented the findings of her research to highly-esteemed audiences at numerous international medical conferences.
Dr Ryan specializes in cosmetic and medical dermatology. She was the director of cosmetic dermatology training at the Baylor Dermatology Residency and has a wide range of experience in facial rejuvenation and cosmetic procedures, including the use of neuromodulators Botox injectable dermal fillers (Voluma, Volift, Vobella, Juvaderm, Perlane, Restylane, Sculptra, and Radiesse) and laser therapies for acne scarring, rosacea and skin rejuvenation. Her main areas of medical dermatological interest include psoriasis, melanoma, skin cancer, acne, atopic dermatitis (eczema), lupus, and contact dermatitis.
She is an International Affairs Committee member of the Women’s Dermatological Society, a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, a councilor of the International Psoriasis Council, a medical board member and an editorial board member of the National Psoriasis Foundation.
